The County is proposing to add a new service delivery site for the Healthcare for the Homeless program at the Florida Department of Health office in St. Petersburg, located at 205 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N. This area of the county was identified in the 2023 Pinellas Point in Time Count as having a high concentration of unsheltered persons.

Background/Explanation:

The County’s Health Care for the Homeless program provides medical services, otherwise known as primary care, which includes treatment of illness or injury as well as preventive care, education, limited prescription coverage and referrals for lab work, specialty care, dental assistance, behavioral-mental health assistance and substance abuse treatment. Pinellas County homeless residents currently receive primary health care at the Bayside Health Clinic in Clearwater, FL as well as via the Mobile Medical Unit, Street Medicine Team, and numerous Telehealth connections throughout the county.

Fiscal Impact:

Federal funding in an amount not to exceed $650,000.00 for a one-year period of June 1, 2025, through May 31, 2026, will be provided by the Health Services Administration under the FY25 New Access Points funding opportunity. There are no match or cost-sharing requirements.

Human Services will be applying for a grant up to the above amount. This item has no direct Fiscal Impact to the budget for FY25 until approved and received.
