Body
Background Information:
Historic Structure Reports are critical for maintaining historic buildings because they gather information about the structure that can be used for its ongoing preservation. These reports are recommended by the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatments of Historic Properties. Heritage Village will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026, and completion of these HSRs is the first step in maintaining the buildings for the next half-century.
Fiscal Impact:
Receipt of the NPS funding through the Cultural Resources Management cooperative agreement would augment the budget for Heritage Village by $233,322, which will be expensed on hiring contractual labor to complete the HSRs. The project will take approximately 5 years, so the budget for Fiscal Years 2025-2029 will likely be impacted. Approximately $46,000 will be spent per year and the funding is on a reimbursement basis. The costs for the HSRs will reduce costs in the future for maintaining the delicate historical buildings at Heritage Village due to increased data on their condition.
