Summary:
The State Grant Program provides Florida counties assistance with the installation and maintenance of enhanced 911 systems, including workstations and monitors to expand the system such as the Vesta workstations in this application in order to support seamless E911 throughout the State of Florida. The E911 Board assists eligible counties through the E911 State Grant Program using E911 trust fund monies.
Amendment 1 requires the County Administrator’s signature. A budget amendment is not needed to adjust the $1,892.00 increase.
Background/Explanation:
The Pinellas County Regional 911 Center acts as the steward of all 911 Fee funding for Pinellas County including the five secondary PSAPs.
Grant monies received will be used for the purchase, installation, project management, testing, and first year warranty for 9 Vesta workstations (911 phone system) to be used in a live environment to expand the number of workstations that are available when needed and a training environment to provide a lifelike experience to trainees.
This addition will contribute a necessary component for the training room workstations to be the same design as the live workstations on the center floor. This will contribute to more efficient training by increasing success and decreasing training time for trainees as well as providing the opportunity to increase the number of live consoles available for use in case of a large event or disaster that requires additional staffing.
Fiscal Impact:
Grant funds of $183,381.35 shall be provided on a cost reimbursement basis. No matching funds are associated with this grant. Funding for the original award amount, $181,489.35, is included within the Safety and Emergency Services E911 Communications Fund FY24 Budget. A budget amendment will not be needed for the Amendment No. 1 award increase of $1,892.00.
