The Town shall retain a vendor to supply mats for each of the ten (10) public beach accesses within the Town by December 31, 2024.
Once the mats are installed, the Town agrees to assume all maintenance responsibilities associated with the mats during their useful life, including any signs, fixtures, or appurtenances thereto required by any permitting regulatory agencies.
Background/Explanation:
As part of the County’s Strategic Plan to preserve and manage environmental lands, beaches, parks, and historical assets, the County provides for the replacement of walkovers and installation of beach access mats. Installation of beach access mats is done with the goal of retaining sand at the walkover areas and increasing ease of access over the dune. The mats also help to confine pedestrian traffic to the walkover, which protects adjacent dune areas.
Fiscal Impact:
Funding for this Interlocal Agreement is budgeted in the FY24-FY29 Capital Improvement Program’s Dune Construction & Walk-overs project, 000139A, funded by the Tourist Development Tax.
Payment to the Town will be provided in the form of a reimbursement in an amount not to exceed $27,995.00 for eligible project costs.
