Summary:
The Production Agreement is to promote and market tourism as it relates to the production of “Mother Nature and the Doomsday Prepper.” The Agreement is based on a combination of 10% reimbursement for approved, documented, and detailed local production expenses and for the marketing value the production brings to the destination. In exchange for up to $215,457.00 in monetary support, the County will receive marketing benefits that include perpetual use of approximately 20 behind the scenes promotional photographs, aerial drone footage, at least three video testimonials from above-the-line cast and crew providing favorable references to filmmaking in the County, city signage, location/business mentions, and more as detailed in Exhibit A.
Background/Explanation:
In the absence of state film incentives, the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is positioning the destination as a location for small budget film and digital projects, social media productions, and music videos. Through the Film Commission’s Business Development Marketing Program, the CVB will pay qualified productions up to 10% of approved local expenditures and for the marketing value the production brings to the destination.
The funding for this production is based on a combination of $143,638.00 for positive brand exposure and reimbursement of up to $71,819.00 for 10% of approved local expenditures. Funding is paid on a post-production basis upon receipt of all deliverables.
Production of this film took place over a total of 114 days (10 pre-production, 14 principal photography and 90 days post-production). Film locations include North and South Straub Parks, St. Pete Pier, Maximo Park, U.S. Coast Guard Station, Pinellas Park Performing Arts Center, Yellow Banks Groves, Treasure Island gulf view, Litewave Studios, and more. In addition to this exposure, the County will also receive perpetual use of aerial footage taken at John’s Pass, downtown St. Petersburg, Clearwater Beach and Pier 60, Gulfport waterfront including Gulfport Casino and Beach Boulevard, and Downtown Dunedin and the Dunedin Marina. The exposure generated is only one aspect that results from local film productions. The County also benefits from the 100+ local jobs, 196 room nights, and approximately $718,198.00 in direct local expenditures that are a result of this film being produced in Pinellas County.
The production company is currently in discussions for distribution.
